THE E.A.R.S. WIDE AREA NET AND
NEWSLINE has moved! As an effort to get
more check-ins across the entire coverage
area, especially those in the Eastern time
zone, the net has been moved up one half
hour to 8:30 Central time (9:30 Eastern
during the time change). Short-time check
ins are taken first, followed by regular
check-ins. After check-in time, the 10 minute
Amateur radio bulletin package "Newsline"
(via satellite) is aired. Then those that want
to stay around can add their comments to
the group about a story on Newsline, or
anything else! Be sure to check in Monday
evenings at 8:30 p.m. Central time on the
E.A.R.S. Wide Area Repeater Network!

REPEATER UPDATES:
145.11 - The antenna problem is apparently worse than originally thought. Apparently the system has off from time to time. We are looking into the problem, but this may take a while until the weather cooperates with an antenna project.
145.15 - We have discovered that the receive coverage has dropped at the new Evansville site due to receiver overload. We are looking for a more stable, narrower banded exciter at the transmit site that should remedy the problem. Some temporary improvements were made, but coverage is still not what it should be.
146.925 - The exciter at Paxton has been going off the air occasionally. The recievers are working wonderfully, and the 443.925 transmitter is fully reliable. Again, we are looking for a more stable exciter for this location as well. An omnidirectional antenna is also planned to replace the current beam as soon as the weather cooperates. Thanks to Eric N9KDB and Mel N9IZG for taking on the battery project for the DVR again. They have been working on an automatic charging system for the backup battery.
145.25 - The preselector, which splits the
antenna feed to the link receivers, has finally
arrived from repair and installed. Work now
shifts to the Seymour site where the 443.925
(EARS/Vincennes) and 442.750 (WA9FGT/
Petersburg) repeaters will link in. Keep
watching for more details on the link to Indy.
