THE NEXT E.A.R.S. EATING MEETING will
be held on Friday, March 8, at 6:30 PM Central
at Old Country Buffet, Morgan Ave. and Green
River Road in Evansville, IN. Don't miss this
meeting! Those people who attended the
Christmas party can pick up their free world
maps, courtesy of Kenwood. Also, we will sell
tickets for a "Power System" unit donated by
Barry Tate KE4OXZ. It is our hope to increase
meeting attendance by offering some incentives
to be there! Tickets will be sold ONLY at the
March and April meetings for $1 each. The
prize will be drawn at the April meeting. Come
see this neat device! It is a small power supply,
complete with built-in work lamp, battery
charger, and multiple voltage supply. It will
power just about anything!!
MY APOLOGIES... No, the mail didn't lose your February newsletter, and you didn't miss the February Eating Meeting. I have been in the middle of many, many, many things to do and by the time I was able to get going on the newsletter, I realized it was almost March. Sorry!

EARS, repairs are under way on the repeaters!
REPEATER STATUS... Some progress is being made, just not quite as fast as we'd like!
I went to the 5.15 site on Sat. Feb. 10 and
fixed the noise on the signal coming from Vincennes and the intermittent PL problem on the link. Due to temperature changes, the amplifier was at a lower power and did not respond well to adjustments. I had to take the amplifier off line at the time. On Tue. Feb. 20 I was able to re-tune the amplifier and put it back online. I also adjusted a squelch pot that was allowing the repeater to key up from some link channel interference, and plugged the phone line back in that I forgot to replace on the 10th. (Sorry!) So at this time the only thing missing on 5.15 is a voter, and thus we're still only running the main receive site and no remote receivers.
The 146.925 transmitter antenna at Paxton was scheduled to go up on Sat. Feb. 17, but then snow arrived on Thurs. and had to be postponed.
The parts are in for the 145.25 amplifier, but no progress has been made yet.
The insurance company has finally issued a settlement on 145.11! We hope to have the new system ordered very soon.
Barry is still working on getting 146.895 back
on.
